SuFiA TS Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL), and Communication Workshop

Summary: From September 06-07, 2023, SuFiA TS, in close coordination with the Regional Plan of Action to promote responsible fishing practices including combating IUU Fishing (RPOA-IUU), conducted the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) and Communications Workshop for RPOA-IUU in Jakarta, Indonesia. With a total of 10 in-person participants (2 females and 8 males) actively participating from the RPOA-IUU participating countries and the RPOA-IUU Secretariat office, the workshop aimed to strengthen the capacity of RPOA-IUU’s governance mechanisms and its functioning on MEL, reporting, communications that are gender sensitive and inclusive, in its marine conservation and sustainable fishing efforts in the Indo-Pacific region. The workshop concluded with a renewed sense of purpose and a heightened commitment among participants to effective MEL, reporting, and communications within the RPOA-IUU framework.
